The Sheikh and His Disciples (Sheikh va Moridan)
The Sheikh and His Disciples (Sheikh va Moridan) is a digital cut-out animated series of 30 episodes, each about 3 minutes long, made in Dubai in 2013–2014. Vahid Nikgoo wrote, animated and directed it.[1]
A sheikh lives in an old village, where his friends and followers keep visiting him. Each time he sees them, he tells a tale or gives them advice. His tales are always strange and foolish, yet by the sheikh’s own “logic” they always come out as worthy advice. The followers are so deeply moved by his words that, every time they talk with him, they tear their clothes and head off into the desert, until it has become a kind of tradition for them.[2]
The series was made at Moby Group in Dubai, where Nikgoo worked as animation director and creative director. Its episodes were published on the official YouTube channel of FARSI1.[1,2,3]
